John R. Anderson of Duluth entered the Army on Aug. 10, 1942. He was a technician fifth grade and a light truck driver with the 3rd Army General Hospital in North Africa, Italy and the Rhineland.He received the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal and five overseas service bars. He was discharged on Sept. 26, 1945.
