He served as Sergeant and mechanic with the 859th Bomb Squadron (H) in Tunisia, North Africa; Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines, Italy; and Southern France.
He was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and five overseas service bars.
Mr. Saari was honorably discharged on October 8, 1945.
