The following story was taken from an interview conducted by Donny Young, a student at Ordean Middle School. Donny interviewed his grandfather, John Young, who experienced World War II as a civilian and child.
John was only five years old during the World War II. He was away from his father for three years while his mother tried her best not to be scared. John and his brothers and sisters also felt scared; they felt the war was "awful." "No one knew if they were going to bomb the school," he told Donny. Although John didn't serve, his experience is still important.
