Joseph E. Johnsen

Joseph E. Johnsen of Duluth, Minnesota entered the Army on May 21, 1942.

He served as a Private First Class, infantryman, cook, and truck driver with Company M of the 88th Infantry Division (which was formed from Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dakota National Guard units), in Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley, Italy.

Mr. Johnsen received the: Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on November 11, 1945.
