Joseph M. Gornick

Joseph M. Gornick was inducted into the Army April 10, 1941, Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Soudan, Minn.

He served as a Technical Sergeant and platoon leader with Company B of the 133rd Infantry Regiment of the 34th Infantry Division in Tunisia, North Africa; and Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, Italy.

He was wounded in action while serving in the Mediterranean Theater in 1944.

Mr. Gornick was awarded Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged July 4, 1945, Fort Snelling Minn.
