ZLONIS, Joe Paul

Joe Paul Zlonis was born on Novemer 19th 1914 in Chisholm, Minnesota..

Mr. Zlonis entered the U.S. Army on November 20th 1936. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as unit commander of the Combat Engineers in the European Theater. He rose to the rank of a Major (MAJ).

MAJ Zlonis was awarded the follwoing for his service:

  • American Defense Service Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
  • World War II Victory Medal,
  • Army of Occupation Medal (Germany and Japan),
  • National Defense Service Medal,
  • Armed Forces Reserve Medal,
  • Master Parachutist Badge,  -and-
  • Glider Badge.

 

MAJ Zlonis was relieved from active duty (retired after 20 years service) on November 30th 1957, Headquarters, Fifth U.S. Army, Chicago, Illinois.
