Lauren R. Welsh entered the Army on February 10, 1941.

He was a Staff Sergeant with the 69th Infantry Division in the European Theater in England, France, Belgium (Battle of Bulge) and Germany. He also participated in occupation duty with the 29th Infantry Division in Germany.

Mr. Welsh was discharged on December 8, 1945. He later rejoined the 47th Division Army National Guard for nine years and retired in 1956 as a First Sergeant with more than 22 years of service.
