Lawrence G. Stimac was inducted into the Naval Reserve on February 3, 1943.

He served as an Aviation Metalsmtih Second Class.

Mr. Stimac shared the following: "Assigned to newly-formed Combat Aircraft Service Unit (CASU) 49, NTS, Point Mugu, Calif., for infantry training from April to June 1944. Unit shipped to Hawaii and stationed at Iroquois Point, Kaneohe Bay, and Barbers Point NAS.

"Saw Bob Hope, also FDR on his Hawaii visit. Shipped out on the John B. Floyd, a Liberty ship...Unit debarked Palau Islands in October. Transferred to Peleiu, noted for 'Bloody Ridge' and 'Massacre Valley,' plus 12 miles of interconnected Japanese defense and tunnels..."

He was awarded the following: Combat Action Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Stimac was honorably discharged December 4, 1945, at Great Lakes, Illinois.
