Leo S. Kurtti

Leo S. Kurtti of Bemidji, Minnesota enlisted in the Army on January 12, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

 He was a Staff Sergeant and a mess sergeant with Company D, 557th Signal Air Warning Battalion in New Guinea, and the Southern Philippines (Liberation).

Mr.  Kurtti  received the: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Campaign Medal, and five overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on December 18, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
