Ludwig B. Pershern

Ludwig B. Pershern of Gilbert, Minnesota entered the Marine Corps on Jan. 25, 1940.

He was a Private First Class and a mortar man in the Pacific Theater, seeing action with the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Raider Battalion on Guadalcanal from Nov. 4, 1942, to Dec. 4, 1942, including action at Asamana.

Mr. Pershern received the: Navy Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with a bronze battle star.

He received a disability discharged on Feb. 11, 1944.
