Mark A. Popovich

Mr. Popovich served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1944.

While serving in China-Burma-India Theater he rose to rank of Sergeant.

He returned back to the United States to Officer Candidate School and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant in May 1943. After that he was sent back to the South Pacific assigned to a field artillery position.

He was later hospitalized in the Fiji Islands and returned to the United States and was discharged in May 1944.

Mr. Popovich was born on July 25, 1917 in Ely, Minnesota to Nick and Anna Popovich. He attended and graduated Ely Memorial High School in 1935. Later he attended and graduated from Ely Junior College in 1937.

On July 21, 2007 he died in Ely, Minnesota.
