Matt E. Aho

Matt E. Aho of Floodwood entered the Army on March 24, 1942. He was a sergeant in charge of 60 mm. mortar squad with the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in the Aleutian Islands, Philippines and Marshall Island campaigns. He was wounded in action on Leyte. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with three bronze battle stars. He was discharged on April 16, 1945.
