KLARICH, Matt Joseph

Matt Joseph Klarich was born on November 30th 1919 to Matt & Mary [Kayfes] Klarich in Buhl, Minnesota

Mr. Klarich was inducted into the U.S. Army on November 16th 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home of entry: Buhl.

He served as a light weapons NCO with Company G of the 39th Infantry Regiment and Ninth Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Klarich was awarded the following merits for his service:

  • Bronze Star Medal,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Combat Infantryman Badge,
  • American Campaign Medal, 
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal and one overseas service bar

 

PFC Klarich was honorably discharged on January 6th 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Kathryn Louise [Marincel]  on Febreuary 25th 1946, in Mountain Iron and they started a family.

Mr. Klarich died on March 1st 1989 at 69 years of age. He is buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Buhl.
