HEDIN, Max Winfred

Max Winfred Hedin was born on September 13th 1920 to John William Andrew & Genevieve Rosalyn [Flamang] Hedin in Kettle River, Minnesota. He later moved to Duluth, Minnesota.

Mr. Hedin enlisted on November 3rd 1942 in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT).

SGT Hedin was honorably discharged on December 26th 1945. After the war he returned home and married Shirley Lumae Armstrong on March 3rd 1948 and they started a family. She was featured on the cover of the September 1943 Life Magazine. They operated a popular resort, the Blue Max, on Fish Lake north of Duluth.

Max also had an older brother, Theodore John Hedin, who was an Army Veteran of WWII as well.

Max Hedin died on September 2nd 2006 at 85 years of age.
