Nick Richnofsky of Virginia, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on June 13, 1942.

He was a Private First Class and was a pump operator with the 2837th Engineer Petroleum Distribution Company in Algeria and Tunisia, North Africa; Sicily; Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland.

He was wounded in action on June 29, 1944 in Europe.

Mr. Richnofsky was awarded the: Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 6 bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and 5 overseas service bars.

He was discharged on August 7, 1945.
