“Enlisted January 10, 1945. Basic training April 1945. Went to Fort Lawton, Washington. Sent back to Fort Bliss, Texas. Reactivated 322 Anti-Aircraft Artillery AW Battalion. Made the grade of sergeant. Then [unit] was de-activated. Went to AAA schools, Fort Bliss, Texas. Did a lot of things--going after prisoners, to map reading. Sent to prisoner, not in charge of detail, to Chicago. Got him in Detroit, back to Bliss. Then sent to 14th Armored Field Artillery service battery as supply sergeant. Went to Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, to clear ranges. Went to Fort Crockett, Texas, supply sergeant, fishing tackle. Back to Camp Hood and hospital, then discharged in Hood. The Army was good for me. Wish I could get all of my records.”
