Philip R. Carlson

Philip R. Carlson entered the Coast Guard on March 24, 1942.

He was a machinist mate 1st class aboard attack the transport USS Admiral C. F. Hughes (AP 124) in the Europe and Pacific Theaters. The ship received a letter of commendation for transporting 5,000 U.S. Army troops from the European Theater to the Pacific Theater, "the longest transport of troops performed in the history of the U.S.Navy and Coast Guard. It totaled 15,500 nautical miles and consumed 34 days."

He was separated on Sept. 15, 1945.
