DRYER, Raymond Clarence
Raymond Clarence Dryer was born on November 3rd 1917 in Brooklyn, New York..
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 29th 1940.
He rose to the rank of Captain (CAPT). He commanded the USS Allen during the attack on Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7th 1941. The day that "will live in Infamy". That morning the USS Allen was moored only a very short distance away from the USS Arizona.
CAPT Dryer retired from the Navy on February 13th 1946.
After the war CAPT Dryer returned home to Duluth, Minnesota and started a family, He maintained his military presence as the Commander of the Naval Reserves in Duluth.
He died on October 13th 1991 in Medina County, Ohio at 73years of age. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
