MALLARO, Raymond Francis
Raymond Francis Mallaro was born on February 19th 1923 to William & Mary C. Mallaro in Buhl, Minnesota.
Mr. Mallaro was inducted into the U.S Army on April 26th 1943, at Fort Snelling, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Buhl, Minnesota.
He served with Company A of the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was wounded in action in Europe. He rose to the rank of as a Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Mallaro earned the following merits for his service:
- Purple Heart,
- Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze battle stars & bronze arrowhead,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on November 14th 1945, at Camp Grant, Illinois.
Mr. Mallaro died on April 24th 1952 at 29 years of age. He is buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Buhl, Minnesota.
