Raymond Zakula

Raymond Zakula enlisted in the Army in May 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He served as a Wheelsman aboard a mine layer laying and recovering mines along the coastal waters of Panama and Ecuador.

Mr. Zakula was honorably discharged in November 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

Born in 1921, he graduated from Duluth, Minnesota's Denfeld High School in 1941.  During WWII he served with the army from 1943 until 1945.  After the war he went to Drake University, from which he graduated in 1949. 

Mr. Zakula died in Cloquet, Minnesota, on June 15, 2008, at the age of 87.
