Richard E. Wagner of Duluth was inducted into the Army on May 20, 1943. He served as a technician 5th grade and locomotive fireman with Company C of the 353rd Infantry Regiment of the 89th Infantry Division in Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, and two overseas service bars. He was discharged on January 11, 1946.
