GEROW, Robert Coleman

Robert Coleman Gerow was born on September 29th 1925 to Coleman E. & Laura Jane [Tidd] Gerow in Calumet, Minnesota.

Mr. Gerow was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 7th 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He served as a brakeman with Company C of the 723rd Railway Operations Battalion in Northern France and Rhineland. He rose to the rank of Private First Class. (PFC)

PFC Gerow was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars. 

He was honorably discharged November 30th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he married Elizabeth Anne [Guidarelli] on March 29th 1946 and they started a family.

Mr. Gerow died on April 18th 1969 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at 43 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
