Robert E. Erickson of Chisholm, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on Sept. 27, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Private First Class and rifleman with Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 276th Infantry Regiment, 70th Infantry Division in Rome-Arno, Italy, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He was wounded in action on March 8, 1945, and hospitalized for six weeks in Nancy, France.

Mr. Erickson was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He later served in the Army Reserve for three years and was honorably discharged on March 7, 1949 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
