VAN ETTA, Robert Francis

Robert Francis Van Etta was born September 28th 1924 to Dr. Michael and Jean Van Etta in Cook, Minnesota.

He went in to service with the US Navy as a Seaman First Class (S1-C) on April 4th 1945 and trained at Detroit and Chicago.There he met his future bride Luella.

S1-C Van Etta was sent overseas on the USS Roosevelt (CVB-42), the Navy's largest aircraft carrier in the Atlantic. He was honorably discharged on July 16th 1946 at Wold Chamberlain Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

After the war he returned to Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota Dental School and graduated in 1950.

Dr. Van Etta reenlisted in the Navy during the Korean War and this time served as a dentist. After completion of his military service, he and his family moved to Ely, Minnesota where he established his dental practice. There he was a member of the VFW amongst many civic groups.

He died on March 16th 2017 at the age of 92 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was buried at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
