Roderick G. McKenzie of Duluth entered the Navy in October 1940.

He was a Chief Quartermaster and navigator on the USS Paducah and USS LSM 392 in the Pacific and Atlantic. He trained Navy gun crews for merchant ships. He navigated the LSM from U.S. to Okinawa and as it carried troops to various islands between Hawaii and Okinawa, Ie Shima.

He was discharged in October 1945.
