MICHELIZZI, Rokie Charles (Domonick)

Rokie Charles (Domonick) Michelizzi was born on January 18th 1918 to Michelangelo V. & Carmella [Condoluci] Michelizzi in Duluth, Minnesota.

Mr. Michelizzi entered the U. S. Army on May 16th 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.

He served as a scout with Company I, 66th Infantry Regiment, 71st Division in Rhineland and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Michelizzi earned the following for his service:

  • Bronze Star Medal,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Theater Service Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
  • Combat Infantryman Badge,
  • Expert Infantryman Badge,  -and-
  • two overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on February 16th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Dorothy A. [Engelbrektson] and they started a family.

He was one of 4 brothers (James / Patrick / Samuel) who all served during WWII as well.

Mr. Michelizzi died on October 11th 2001 at 83 years of age in Duluth, Minnesota. He is buried at Greenwod Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin.
