Ronald Frances Ellingson joined the Merchant Marines (an auxiliary of the U.S. Navy in wartime) in 1944, serving in the European Theater.

He sailed in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Atlantic Ocean.

Mr. Ellingson also served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Ellingson was born in 1927 in Crookston, Minnesota, to Bernard and Edna (Cramer) Ellingson. He graduated from high school in 1944.
