Rudolph M. Lastovich

Mr. Rudolph Lastovich Mr. Lastovich entered into the Army on December 2, 1942. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served as a Sergeant squad leader and heavy truck driver with Headquarters of the Third Battalion and 32nd Armored Regiment in Normandy, Norther France, Ardennes (Battle of Bulge), Rhineland, and Central Europe.

Mr. Lastovich shared the following: "Was never wounded in action. Drove over a land mine in Germany, Half-track was destroyed. Sandbags on the inside floor of half-track saved me from being wounded. Stood a review for President Truman and Eisenhower in Germany. The war ended in 1945."

Mr. Lastovich  was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and overseas service bars. 

He was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
