Russell L. Hovi

Russell L. Hovi of Florenton, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on April. 30, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Private First Class and truck driver with the Service Company of the 172nd Infantry Regiment in the Northern Solomons, Bismarck Archipelago and Luzon.

Mr. Hovi was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and four overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged October. 23, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
