Ruth E. Hoyt (nee Murphy) of Tower, Minnesota entered the Army Nurse Corps in September, 1942.

She was a commissioned 1st Lieutenant and a registered nurse in a staff hospital in the Alaskan Highway.

She served in England in a hospital treating casualties. She went to France in 1944 with the 200th General Hospital Unit after D-Day beaches were cleared which acted as an evacuation hospital in Soissons, France until the war in Europe was over. She was waiting in Marseilles to go to the Pacific when the war with Japan ended.

She was separated in January, 1946.
