Ruth A Erickson

Ruth A. Erickson, daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Erickson of Virginia Minn., was a nurse in peacetime Navy Nurse Corps.

She transferred to the U.S. Naval Hospital, Corona, CA, USN Training Station, Farragut, ID, and USN. Hospital, St. Albans, Long Island, NY. She had been serving at the Naval Hospital for 19 months when the attack on Pearl Harbor happened and stayed there for another seven months. 

Ruth served aboard the USS President Coolidge for temporary duty evacuating war casualties from Pearl Harbor, the USS Haven as chief nurse for one year and Naval Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and as a holder of a Unit Citation for Naval Hospital Pearl Harbor for December 7, 1941.

When she retired in 1966, Captain Ruth Erickson was chief nurse at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.
