WENAAS Jr., Sigurd Olaf

Sigurd Olaf Wenaas Jr. was born on March 21st 1916 to Sigurd Sr. & Nellie Josephine [Jacobson] Wenaas in Browns Valley, Minnesota.

Mr. Wenaas joined the Army on January 14th 1941 and served during WWII. He rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

During basic training at Camp Maxey, Texas, he married Doris Evelyn [Waseen] on July 5th 1942 before he went off to the war in Europe. He was wounded in action near Germany and he received the Purple Heart.

LT Wenaas was honorably discharged on October 29th 1945.

He died on August 15th 1981. He is buried at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
