KOSTICH, Stanley

Stanley Kostich was born on September 30th 1923 Obren & Stanojka "Stella" [Jovanich] Kostich in Buhl, Minnesota..

Mr. Kostich entered into the Army Air Corps on June 2nd 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as a truck driver with the 482nd Air Service Group in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Corporal (CPL).

CPL Kostich earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal, -and-
  • three overseas services bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on January 10th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.After the war he returned home to Buhl.

Mr. Kostich died on Janaury 4th 1985 in Buhl at the age of 71 years.. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
