Sylvia G. Niemi

Sylvia G. Niemi of Gilbert, Minnesota entered the Army Nurse Corps on May 1, 1943.

She was a Commissioned 1st Lieutenant and a registered nurse in the Pacific Theater (Southern Philippine and New Guinea).

Ms. Niemi received the: Meritorious Service Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with two bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, World War II Victory Medal, and four overseas service bars.

She was released from active duty on March 5, 1946.
