Thomas H. Radle entered the Army Air Corps on June 22, 1943. As a captain, he piloted B-17 Flying Fortress bombers in Western Europe, during the Air Offensive of Europe, at Normandy, and northern France. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 4 bronze battle stars, the American Defense Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was released from active duty on August 18, 1945.
