Thomas I. Saari

Mr. Thomas Saari entered the Army on September 16, 1943. Home at entry; Embarrass, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class and automatic rifleman with Company I of the 361st Infantry Regiment, of the fifth Army in Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley, in the Italian campaign. He was wounded in action on July 2, 1944.

He was awarded the following: Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and three overseas service bars.

Mr. Saari was honorably discharged on September 4, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
