Toivo M. Lofberg of Ely, Minnesota entered the Army in October, 1942.

He was a Private First Class, an infantryman and a gunner with Company B, 331st Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division in the Pacific: Eniwetok, Marshalls and Manus Island.

"Landing at Leyte, October 20, 1944; invasion landing Okinawa Apr. 1, 1945. I went through both Leyte and Okinawa campaigns without missing a day of action. Was momentarily knocked out by concussion from Japanese artillery."

He was separated on January 19, 1946.
