KALLIO, Urho Arthur

Urho Arthur Kallio was born on January 7th 1910 to Antti & Alexanderia [Pajamaki] Kallio in Alango, Minnesota.

Mr. Kallio was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 28th 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Angora, Minnesota.

He served with the 31st Reconnaissance Troop Mechanical Unit in the East Indies, New Guinea, and Southern Philippines (Liberation). He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).

TEC4 Kallio earned the following merits for his service:

  • Soldiers Medal,
  • Bronze Star Medal,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal,
  • Philippine Liberation Medal,  -and-
  • three overseas service bars, 

 

He was honorably discharged December 26th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.After the war he returned home and married Estelle Olympia [Collins] and they started a family.

Mr. Kallio died on February 24th 1986 at 76 years of age.He is buried at the Alango Cemetery in Angora, Minnesota.
