HARTIKAINEN, Vern Ray

Vern Ray Hartikainen was born on December 20th 1899 to Erick & Alma Hartikarnen in Finland. The family emigrated to northern Minnesota. He married Lila "Lyla" Beth [Burch] on September 20th 1922.

Mr. Hartikainen of Orr, Minnesota registered for service in WWI and WWII. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on August 3rd 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He served as a gunner in Battery B of the 51st Training Battalionin as a rank of Private (PVT).

PVT Hartikainen was honorably discharged April 1st 1943 at Fort McDowell, California.

Mr. Hartikainen died on September 17th 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia, Minnesota.
