VANNE, Victor Edwin

Victor Edwin Vanne was born on Morch 30th on 1919 in Virginia, Minnesota to Frank John & Anee [Heino] Vanne.

Mr. Vanne entered the Army on September 10th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Brittmount, Minnesota.

Mr. Vanne served as a Technician 4th Grade and stenographer with Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 115th Engineer Combat Group in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe.

He was awarded the following:

  • Certificate of Merit,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • three overseas service bars.

 

Tech4 Vanne was honorably discharged on October 20th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

Just before entering the war, Mr. Vanne married Dorothy Dimples [Westby] and started a family.

Mr. Vanne died on November 6th 1974 in Virginia at the age of 55 years old.
