Vivian Marsyla

The following story was taken from an interview conducted by Mr. Drew Olson, a student at Ordean Middle School and grandson of Vivian Elizabeth Marsyla.

The narrative tells the story of Marsyla’s memories of World War II.

Vivian Marsyla was not a member of the armed forces during World War II, but she was old enough to remember feeling sad and worried about the events taking place.

Marsyla lived on a farm in Kettle River, Minnesota during the years 1941 to 1945 and was 14 to 18 years old at the time. Her brother, Ernest, was drafted for four years in the army and did not return home until after the war.

She also remembers family friends that died during the war.
