Vivien R. Fredlund

Vivien R. Fredlund entered the Army on August 5, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minn. Home at entry: Linen Grove Township, Minn.

He served as a Technician 4th Grade and ordnance man with Headquarters Company, Air Force Western Pacific in New Guinea. He was sent to Fort Snelling and then to Fort Warren, Wyoming for six weeks of basic training. He was then sent to Stockton, California to be schooled for knowledge of maintenance vehicles in the war zone.

Upon completion, he spent nine months at Fort Bliss, Texas for desert training. His unit, 310 Ordnance and Transportation Corps Supply was then sent back to California to Camp Stoneman, and from there they were put on a ship to Australia and then to New Guinea. His unit prepared vehicles for units on the front lines. He then was sent Manila in the Philippines for about a month to catch a ship back to the United States; he returned to the United States in January of 1946.

Mr. Fredlund was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and four overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wis.
