Wayne Hakarine

Wayne Hakarine of Virginia, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on April 22, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He served as a Private First Class with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 394th Infantry Regiment in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He was wounded in action on October, 6, 1944 and February 23, 1945 in the European Theater.

Mr. Hakarine was awarded the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged October 16, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
