William Charles Clark

William C. Clark

Mr. Clark enlisted in the Army on July 29, 1943.

He served as a Staff Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant and Infantryman with Company D, 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division and 42nd Infantry Division in the European Theater.

He fought in numerous battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He entered a combat area on June 27, 1944, and he led a platoon without a commissioned officer as platoon leader. He was wounded in action three times and twice hospitalized.

Mr. Clark received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and was honorably discharged in January 1946.

Mr. Clark died of natural causes on March 19,2016 at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota. He was 91 years old.
