FENA, William Greeno

William Greeno Fena was born on December 7th 1916 to Andrew & Louise Fena in Wilpen, Minnesota; St. Louis County. 

Mr. Fena was commissioned in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater. He had the rank of Second Lieutenant. Occupation was Bombardier. He served with 448th Bomber Group, Heavy, 715th Bomber Squadron. 

2LT Fena was killed in action on March 8th 1944, on a bombing run over over Germany. On the return trip they ran out of gas and ditched in the English Channel, east of Great Yarmouth. Only two of the crew survived. He was posthumously awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. He was 27 years of age.
