William H. "Ole" Olson

William H. "Ole" Olson entered the Army on January 5, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Tower, Minnesota.

He served as a Sergeant and supply clerk with Third Infantry Division in Africa, Tunisia, Sicily, and Italy. Wounded in action on October 24, 1943, in the leg by artillery shrapnel at the Valterno River area in Italy. Spent one year in the hospital in Naples, Italy, North Africa, and Ohio.

Mr. Olson was awarded the following: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze service stars.

Mr. Olson was honorably discharged on October 12, 1945, at Camp Plauche, Louisiana.
